Meet Millie Magic

If you follow me on Social Media you probably know I have a new furry best friend called Millie.  Millie is 10 weeks and is a gorgeous Maltipoo.  I wanted to share how magically she came into my life.  Most of my life I have shared it with a dog and our last family dog, Ellie passed away two years ago last month.

I have always known I would get a new dog when the time was right and it had been a regular thought running through my head.  I had researched breeds, picked a name, had conversations with my family about the timing of it all.  In fact last year I found a fabulous breeder who had a litter.  I was so drawn to the pictures of the mum and dad I felt sure one of their pups would be mine but they only had a white boy left, I knew I wanted a black girl.  So it was not to be.
I had felt my old dog Ellie’s presence all around me for weeks and keep thinking she was at my feet under my desk.  I am sure I even heard her bark!  I even bought a dog crate for my children’s dogs who visit so they don’t need to bring one along and it was called Ellie.  The signs were everywhere.   I had asked Ellie to send me the right new puppy.  I had considered re-homing a dog but as we have two babies in the family and not fully knowing their past it didn’t seem a fit for me.
On the anniversary of Ellies passing I was sat at my desk and felt this urge to message the breeder I contacted earlier last year so see if she had any more litters coming up.  It was the strangest thing but she said she had one pup available a black girl exactly what I wanted.  It gave me goosebumps and when she sent her picture I was immediately in love with her.  Even stranger, she sent me the pictures of the mum and dad and they were the same from last year!
I couldn’t quite believe it.  I had saved money for her and the price she wanted was more than I saved.  Puppy prices are ridiculous right now but that is another conversation.  I told her how much I was willing to pay and she agreed, so I made an appointment to view the next day.
For me it was important that we both connected and that was made so clear when she sat on my knee and fell asleep.  When I popped her on my son’s knee she wanted to come back to me immediately.  It was another sign this was the dog for me and I was her new family.
All her brothers and sisters had sold 2 weeks before.  The puppy market is moving fast and the breeder said she had no idea why she had not sold.  No one had enquired about her. Again another sign we were meant to be together.
Millie has given a new spark to my life.  She is settling in brilliantly.  The first day she was allowed out after all her jabs was my birthday! This was the final magical sign, not that I needed anymore, that we are so supposed to be together so I settled on calling her Millie Magic.

Is your biological clock ticking?

Is your biological clock ticking?

Women have 2 biological clocks One of the things I have realised is, as women, we can have two biological clocks. The first starts ticking when we feel the pull to have children in our 20/30’s. The second happens much later in life when the family has grown up and we...
