Happiness is not a destination

Happiness is not a destination, it is a way of life.  It is also a really personal thing.  So many will say…

I will be happy when I have moved house.  Changed my job, or even got a new relationship.

Happiness is not a destination, it is a way of life.

Happiness is not a destination, it is a way of life.

These are really big things.  Even if you don’t find yourself saying that you more than likely think or say “I will be happy when I have got that task done.”

The Angels advice is to live in the moment, live for now and be happy now.

Look around you and be happy with your lot right now.  That is not because you are making do.  It is because it is a fast track to happiness.

Being content, feeling gratitude with everything you have now.  This is even if that is not really what you are ideally wanting.  As it will bring more things to be happier in much quicker than moaning or complaining.

We all have so much to be grateful for but overlook it daily, the little things running water, comfy bed to sleep in, cups of tea, friends, family, pets, even the break of a brand new day.

We also all have different levels of gratitude and thankfully we all want different things.  So one man’s pain is certainly another man’s pleasure.

What makes one person happy, certainly would not do for us all.  Maybe you know of friends who are in what you consider a perfect relationship, yet they are don’t experience that and want to break it off.  Or someone who moans about an elderly relative always demanding, yet you would give anything to have your parents back just for one more day.

We are all guilty of not really valuing and taking for granted what we have.  Focusing on what is wrong and not what is right.

Having appreciation for the old car, even if it is not the flash new model you ideally want, will attract that new car to you even quicker.  Plus keep the older on the road with less breakdowns while you are waiting.  Much better than moaning and expecting it to give you trouble, as then it will.

The people that are the happiest are the ones that are content with their now, live in the moment and have found their peace.  I am sure their lives are not perfect, but they don’t worry about that they just focus and value what is right in their life.  Knowing by doing that each day that will grow, so more happiness will come their way.

So think for a moment, what can you be happy with right now in your life, just as it is?  Write it down and keep adding to the list at the end of each day.  As happiness is not a destination, it is a way of life.
